The course is active and participatory rather than theoretical. For example, though many books can be inspiring, it is impossible to learn meditation from simply reading about it , you have to actually practice and train the mind to do it.

Course

I have put together the course, drawing on my experience and insights over the last 25 years, in the teaching of yoga, meditation , training therapists and holistic practitioners, and my own private practice .  In particular, my one to one work with clients, many of whom could recite the material from all the self-help books they had read, convinced me that change does not come from reading or talking about.  For many people, it seemed to me,  all that material just acted as another set of things that they “should”  do.  In contrast, I found that real change results from insight, from deepening your state of being and from doing.

Each session consists of specific exercises and a meditation session. Assignments are given e.g. practising optimistic thinking, completing a gratitude exercise etc , which will need to be carried out between sessions. All the assignments and techniques used in the course are evidence-based, ie they are proven to be effective  in research and to have long term effects on your happiness level.

Participants will be asked to discuss their experiences with the material, but talking about specific problems is not encouraged.

WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?

The course is aimed at the normal person who is doing well in their life, but who would like to de-stress, be able to “switch off” and achieve more peace of mind, move through some temporary sticking point, be more cheerful and optimistic, deepen their relationships, achieve their goals more effortlessly,  tap into more of their potential, live more authentically, attract more good people and situations into their lives, in short for anyone who wants to lead a more creative and fulfilling life.
